A representative of love in all forms, Rose became a popular Valentine’s Day Flower in the 17th century. Popularity of Rose as Valentine’s Day Flower stems from the belief that the Red Rose was the favorite flower of Venus - the Roman Goddess of Love and Beauty and hence it is dubbed as the flower of love and passion. A single perfect red rose clubbed with Baby’s Breath flower is called a “signature rose” by the florists and is the most preferred gift for the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

Leanne (Lee) Barber is a florist in Kelowna, BC with nearly thirty years of experience and extensive knowledge of the floral industry.

Lee started working at the family business, Village Flowers in Kelowna British Columbia at the age of twelve. With her personal charisma and natural talent as a florist she soon became an integral part of business. After several years   she felt she should expand her knowledge base and decided to spent time in Australia. There she trained and worked with an Ikebana master. This experience greatly influenced her love for exotic flowers and simple, elegant design. Upon her return to Canada, Leanne took over management of the family business until it was sold. Her work and studies in the industry continued over the years as she gained more experience in floral design, consulting for weddings and corporate functions, creating unique floral displays and high-end flower designs for all special occasions.
